Potential members and their families, music teachers, and children age 5 and under are admitted free.
Chamber Music Recitals and Master Classes are free.

Continuing the tradition of providing our musicians with the opportunity to perform in renowned concert venues, the Principal Orchestra will present a concert at Carnegie Hall.
The program will include Johann Struass' Emperor Waltz and Dvorák's Symphony No. 8.
Joining NYS for this event are ensembles from the Maryland Classic Youth Orchestras.

The Norwalk Youth Symphony Chamber Orchestra will present its first concert of the season at Lincoln Center, performing Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 9 and Symphony No. 40.
Pianist Francine Kay is the featured soloist.
Francine Kay made her New York debut at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall as winner of the Pro Piano Competition. In recital she has played in places such as The Phillips Collection in Washington, DC, Salle Gaveau in Paris, the Dame Myra Hess Concerts in Chicago, the Montreal International Festival, the Newport Festival, the Banff Centre, and the National Arts Centre in Canada. She has been soloist with orchestras such as the Toronto Symphony, Princeton Symphony, Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, Victoria Symphony, Sinfonia Toronto, Orchestra London, Lake Placid Sinfonietta, and the Calgary Philharmonic. She was recently the soloist for the West Side Chamber Orchestra's inaugural concert in New York City, playing Mozart's D-Minor Concerto, K. 466 with conductor Kevin Mallon.
A graduate of The Juilliard School where she studied on scholarship with Adele Marcus and received her Bachelors and Masters degrees, Francine completed her Doctor of Musical Arts with Gilbert Kalish at SUNY Stony Brook. She teaches piano at Princeton University.
All NYS musicians, community members, teachers, families, and friends are invited on stage after rehearsals to perform holiday classics. Bring your instrument and join the ensemble! Interested non-musicians are invited to stay and enjoy the music. A reception will follow in the Community Room.
The NYS Concerto Competition features performances by members of Principal Orchestra. Musicians perform a movement from a concerto and are heard by a panel of judges including, but not limited to, two of the NYS conductors.
The winner of the Competition is invited to play a movement of a concerto with the Principal Orchestra at the annual Mother's Day Concert.

The Norwalk Youth Symphony is hosting an Open House for Summer Music Programs. Parents and musicians will have the opportunity to visit with administrators from summer music programs in the area. Day programs and overnight camps will be represented.

The annual Mother's Day Concert marks the end of the Norwalk Youth Symphony's concert season.
The concert traditionally includes the presentation of our graduating seniors and awarding of the Ramer Memorial Scholarship, which is granted to a deserving senior as chosen by their peers on the basis of leadership, commitment, preparation, and attendance.
The Mother's Day Concert also features a performance by the winner of the Norwalk Youth Symphony Concerto Competition.
