Instrument Choirs

NYS has special instrument ensembles to provide its members with additiional coaching and performance opportunites.

Cello Choir

Members of the Cello Choir are coached weekly on traditional cello ensemble repertoire as well as arranged classical and popular standards. Leadership skills, intonation and ensemble will be honed through the learning process and members will perform without a conductor.

A cello choir, just like any chamber group, will allow for members to build a musical friendship in a supportive and encouraging environment that will continue beyond the small ensemble into the orchestral setting.

Flute Choir

Flute Choir is a chamber music experience for flutists in which we can discuss the unique problems of playing our instrument. The music requires that each flutist to carry a part all by themselves. The choir rotates "first parts" so that each member has a chance to experience being a soloist as well as playing a supporting role.

The choir meets for weekly rehearsals each semester with a performance at the end of each semester.
