NYS holds weekly Sunday rehearsals at Norwalk City Hall, located at 125 East Avenue in Norwalk. A weekly rehearsal may also be scheduled on a Saturday or weekday if City Hall is not available, or if we need to make up a missed rehearsal.
Pre-dress rehearsals are normally scheduled on a weekday prior to the concert.
Dress rehearsals are normally scheduled on the Saturday prior to the concert.
Rehearsals start promptly. Musicians should arrive 15 minutes before rehearsal to warm up and tune.
All players are expected to assist with the set-up and clean-up of the rehearsal area.
If you are going to miss a rehearsal, you should Report An Absence on-line, or you can fill out a card, available at the front desk, at any rehearsal. Other attendance issues should be directed to Sara Watkins, Executive Director.
Snacks - Every group has a 15-minute snack break during their rehearsal. Bagels and water are provided. NYS strives to be nut-free. Having a snack break adds to the social experience of the students, and parent volunteers are necessary in order to facilitate this. Each family is asked to volunteer for one snack shift each year.
Always refer to the Rehearsal Schedule below, Google classroom, and to the Weekly Newsletter for the exact days and times of rehearsals, meetings, and assignments.
